{ Sesame Ginger Pak Choi }
Pak choi is a quick-cooking vegetable with a tender, juicy flavour that is a delight in the kitchen. The entire plant is edible (there is no core to remove) and takes only a few minutes to prepare, no matter which way you go about it. Most commonly used in Asian cooking, it pairs well with flavours like sesame and ginger, as this recipe calls for. Give it a try with just one pak choi or many, and see how easy and delicious this green veggie can be!
A big thank you to Erin Walker (from A Little Salt blog) for creating this delicious recipe for our farm and welcoming us back into the sunny summer season.

Whether you are using with one pak choi or many, this simple recipe cooks up like a charm!
Servings: 4 people
Ingredients
- 4 pak choi
- 3 tsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or garlic scape)
- 1/2 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Trim the bottom of the Pak choi and slice in half lengthwise.
- Heat the sesame oil in a skillet over high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the garlic and ginger, and saute for a few minutes until fragrant. Place the pak choy cut side down in the pan, season with salt and pepper and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes.
- Add 1 tbsp of water to the pan and quickly cover. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it steam for 2 minutes, until pak choy is bright green and slightly wilted. Finish with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
